Scottish unemployment unchanged as UK unemployment rises

Scottish unemployment remains at high structural level of 164,000

NEW FIGURES show the Scottish unemployment rate has remained unchanged between May and July at 164,000 despite a rise in the numbers of unemployed in the rest of the UK.

Unemployment in the rest of the UK rose by 10,000 to 1.82 million or 5.5 per cent, which is still lower than Scotland's rate of 5.9 per cent unemployment.
