REFUGEE rights activists will protest in Glasgow on Tuesday evening [18 December] in solidarity with the Stansted 15, as part of a UK-wide mobilisation to mark International Migrants Day.
On 28 March 2017, 15 refugee rights protestors chained themselves together in front of a deportation flight at London Stansted airport, causing the flight – which contained 60 vulnerable migrants from Ghana, Nigeria and Sierra Leone - to be cancelled.

AMID the noise over the Jamal Khashoggi killing, the UN aid chief Mark Lowcock’s words to the UN Security Council on Tuesday hardly got noticed.
But they couldn’t have been more alarming.
“There is now a clear and present danger of an imminent and great big famine engulfing Yemen: much bigger than anything any professional in this field has seen during their working lives,” he said.
UberEats and Deliveroo Couriers Strike Over Low Pay
On the 4th October, Ubereats and Deliveroo couriers across the UK went on strike in cities across the UK, including Glasgow.
In Glasgow, couriers gathered on bicycles at George Square at midday and again at 6pm. The day was picked to coincide with strikes by workers in the the fast food sector, with staff from McDonald's, Wetherspoons and TGIF all on strike. The couriers, part of the Industrial Workers of the World Courier Network (IWW), are on strike for the second time in two months.

“Home from Home” walk is a woman’s “personal reaction” to Brexit
A CAMPAIGNER is walking from Scotland to Germany in protest against Brexit.
Claudia Zeiske is walking from Huntly in Aberdeenshire to Unterpfaffenhofen, near Munich, to highlight the impact losing freedom of movement when the UK leaves the EU.
Zeiske set off from Huntly square on 3 July and hopes to reach her final destination on 30 September on a walk that she has named “Home from Home”.
